दातव्यमिति यद्दानं दीयतेऽनुपकारिणे ।
देशे काले च पात्रे च तद्दानं सात्त्विकं स्मृतम् ॥
Gift given with the thought ‘it should be given,’ to one who cannot repay, at the right place, time and to a worthy person—this is sattvic.
‘देना चाहिए’ इस भाव से, अपकारिणे, देश‑काल‑पात्रसम्मत—दान सात्त्विक स्मृत।

सही दान = सही विधि + सही हृदय।
