मूढग्राहेणात्मनो यात्पीडया
क्रियते बहुलं यत्तत् तामसमुदाहृतम् ॥
Austerity performed with foolish obstinacy, torturing oneself or to harm others—that is declared tamasic.
मूढ़ आग्रह से, आत्म‑पीड़ा या पर‑क्लेश हेतु किया गया तप—तामस कहा गया।
